Santiago de Chile is a vibrant, ever-changing city. Its extremes of heat and cold reflect its unique geology, which has also caused some of the world’s strongest earthquakes. The city contrasts sharply between shantytowns and towering skyscrapers, and between residents affected by economically driven social housing policies. This research analyzes Santiago from an urban planning perspective, offering a human-centered understanding of the city.
