The circus has always been distinguished by its spontaneous graphic style, but it is more complex than that. In light of the scarce and fragmented documentation on the subject, this work delves into the relationship between visual language and the cultural, social, and economic changes from the birth of the circus—and later, of the poster—up to the present day. The aim is twofold: to tell a precise story and to provide a precise interpretative framework for that story.
